Have you ever known someone that had great promise but when the going got tough they disappeared and sited some issue that seemed really absurd?
I have seen self sabotage up close.
I have seen people that were on the verge of a breakthrough and sited something that they found frustrating as a reason to quit. They were frustrated and so they stopped.
What is funny is that as long as I have been around church I have never met anyone that wasn't frustrated with how things were going. For some it's too slow, others it's too much change and they just know that things are out of control, for others they don't like who they work with and it's just not fun etc etc etc.
I love that fact that the book of acts does not hide the complaining that went on in the church.
Some complained about the table service and wanted Peter to address it. Peter delegated it with a snip and stayed in his lane so that he could serve the many with what he was called to.
The idea that we will be in a church where people don't bother or disappoint is crazy. The idea that I won't bother and disappoint is crazy.
We are going to watch out lives back and everything that was said behind your back is going to come out. Everything that you said in private is going to be shouted from the rooftops as well.
Every excuse and every time you decided that that it just wasn't worth it is going to come out. Are you going to have a grand reveal of character and faith or is this just going to be an expose and shameful revelation?
